2023 Warhammer Miniature of the Year Winner Announced

Each year, Warhammer fans around the world are asked by Games Workshop to submit their picks online for the very best miniatures released over the previous 12 months from 40K, Horus Hersey, Age of Sigmar and other GW product lines.

Now, the 2023 results have been tallied, with over 750 ballots cast by players from around the world. So just who ended up on top when it comes to Warhammer 40K? Below we break out all the details.

What Warhammer 40K Miniatures Were RUNNERS UP?

2023 saw a ton of amazing minis when it comes to Warhammer 40K, including a number of new sculpts and figures that tied into the release of the new 10th edition of the game. Yet only one can earn the top spot.

Below are the runners up in this year’s contest that stood out from the pack, but didn’t quite earn the top spot.

Tyranid Deathleaper

The Deathleaper is a rare version of the Lictor strain of Tyranid that’s designed by the hive mind to sow terror among civilians and combatants alike prior to the arrival of a hive fleet invasion. Skilled in stealth, infiltration and assassination, it also showcases the best of Tyranid miniature design, with an impressive level of detail a unique new pose.

Vashtorr the Arkifane

Commander of the dreaded Chaos legion known as the Cult of the Arkifane, Vashtorr is a powerful Daemon and the ruler of the Forge of Souls. He also happens to be one of the most unique chaos miniatures we’ve seen in years, with a level of detail that’s as terrifying as it is impressive.

Commander Dante

The legendary Lord of the Angels, Luis Dante is the current Chapter Master of the Blood Angles and one of the most fearsome warriors in the legions of Adeptus Astartes. And while he might be over fifteen-hundred years old, you wouldn’t know it from how he looks in this jaw-dropping new mini that was unleashed in 2023.

Norn Emissary

The dreaded Norn Emissary shows just why the Tyranids are one of the most feared species in the galaxy, combining brute strength with incredible psychic power. It’s a classic case of brains and brawn captured perfectly in this stunning new mini.

Commander Farsight

The legendary O’Shovah (also known as Commander Farsight) is one of the most feared Tau warriors in existence. A powerful leader of the Fire Caste, he’s the perfect blend of technological innovation and martial prowess. He also just happens to have earned the 3rd most votes out of any 2023 Warhammer miniature on the ballot.

Who Won the Warhammer Miniature of the Year in 2023?

And the winner and undisputed master of the 2023 Warhammer Miniature of the Year contest is… *drum roll, please*…. Lion El’Jonson!

This new 2023 miniature does an amazing job of capturing the essence of the legendary Primarch and founder of the Dark Angels Space Marine Chapter. Notably, things are looking up for El’Jonson as in addition to winning this year’s miniature content, he also happens to be the focus of the new Warhammer 40K novel entitled The Lion: Son of the Forest

Final Thoughts

There’s little doubt that 2023 was a banner year for Warhammer 40K, with a new edition of the game hitting shelves and a ton of new minis showcasing the skills and artistry of Games Workshops.
