What’s included in the Yarrick Omnibus?

This new Yarrick omnibus contains all of author David Annandale’s stories about the famed Power Klaw-loving Imperial commissar, including:

  • Chains of Golgotha: This novella was first published in 2013 and was later included in the Legends of the Dark Millennium: Astra Militarum anthology. The story follows Commissar Yarrick during the Second War of Armaggeddon as he leads an armored company to track down the vicious Ork Warlord Ghazghkull Thraka during a massive invasion of the green-skinned hordes.
  • Imperial Creed: This first full-length Yarrick novel was originally published in 2014. The book follows a young Yarrick on his first mission on the Imperial world of Mistral, where he finds himself tangled up in a deadly struggle between squabbling military officers, blood thirsty Chaos cults, battle-hardened Sisters of Battle and merciless Inquisitors.
  • The Pyres of Armageddon: The second official full-length Yarrick novel, this book was originally published in 2015 and again takes place on the hive world of Armageddon, with a hard-bitten Commissar Yarrick dealing with corrupt officials and a massive planetary invasion of rampaging Orks.
  • Six short stories: The omnibus also includes six short stories that have appeared over the years in various Black Library collections and which chronicle Commissar Yarrick’s career. This includes: A Plauge of Saints, The Wreckage, Evil Eye, The Gallows Saint, Sacrificial, and Sarcophagus.

Notably, this isn’t the first time these books, novellas and short stories have been collected. There was actually a previous version of Yarrick: The Omnibus published back in 2018, although it has long since been out of print and wasn’t available as an eBook or in as many regions globally.

Who is Commissar Yarrick?

Within Warhammer 40K lore, Commissar Sebastian Yarrick, also known as the “Hero of Hades Hive” and “Old Bale Eye,” is a legendary officer among the ranks of the Imperium.

Serving with the Commisariat (also known as the Officio Prefectus), as a political offier Yarrick was responsible for overseeing discipline and morale among his troops. He is best known, however, for his role in the Second and Third Wars for the Imperial hive world of Armageddon, during which he was instrumental in stopping the Ork Warlord Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka from overrunning the planet’s defenses.

In terms of his physically appearance, Commissar Yarrick is recognizable for his range of battle scars and for sporting a stolen Ork Power Klaw and bionic laser-eye (known as the Bale Eye). He is also known for his bravery, cunning and intelligence, with a particularly deep knowledge of Ork psychology and stratagems.
