The past few months have seen Games Workshop going all in on Dark Angels, with the legendary Space Marine Chapter the focus of a ton of new products, including the new Dark Angels Codex and Deathwing Assault Box Set.
If that wasn’t enough, GW has also just unveiled a new Dark Angels Combat Patrol that offers yet another way for Warhammer 40K players to see the Unforgiven in action. The new box set is slated for release on March 9th, 2024 and is available now for pre-order from Games Workshop
So just what secrets does the new Combat Patrol hold for the legendary First Legion? Below, we break down all the details.
What’s Included in the New Dark Angels Combat Patrol?
The new 2024 Dark Angels Combat Patrol is known as the “Vengeful Brethren” and consists of the following 19 models:
- 1x Captain in Gravis Armour (Master Zacharial)
- 3x Bladeguard Veterans
- 5x Hellblasters
- 10x Intercessors
- 2x Dark Angels Primaris Upgrade frames
- 3x Dark Angels Transfer Sheets
How much Is the New Dark Angels Combat Patrol?
The new Dark Angels Combat Patrol retails for $160 USD, if you order it directly from the Games Workshop website. This is comparable in price to what we saw with the Chapter’s previous 2023 Combat Patrol set.
Below are the prices if you were to buy these units individually:
- Captain in Gravis Armour: $40 USD
- x3 Bladeguard Veterans: $60 USD
- x5 Hellblasters: $35 USD ($60 for 10)
- x10 Intercessors: $60 USD
- 2 Dark Angels Upgrade sprues: $30 ($15 each)
This works out to around $225 USD, so you’d be saving $65 if you were to purchase the Combat Patrol as a set. As always, prices may vary if you buy the set from your local game store or from Amazon (where discounts and sales may allow you to pick him up for a bit cheaper, with most third-party retailers offering at least 10-15% discounts).
When is the new Dark Angels Combat Patrol Coming Out?
The new Dark Angels Combat Patrol is scheduled for release on March 9th, 2024. It is, however, available for pre-order now from Games Workshop.
Local game stores and online retailers will likely have copies shortly after the initial release date, although it’s not yet clear if the new set it a Games Workshop exclusive or it it will be sold via Amazon and other online retailers (which was the case with previous Combat Patrols).
How is this different than the Previous Dark Angels Combat Patrol?
This actually marks the second Dark Angels Combat Patrol to be released by Games Workshop for Warhammer 40K 10th edition. The first was released in late 2023 and was known as “Morekai’s Judgement,” with the complete datasheets and rules released for free online.
Unfortunately, that isn’t the case for the new 2024 Dark Angels Combat Patrol, which includes new units such as Master Zacharial that haven’t been previously lsited. Instead, the full rules are currently only available in the Codex Supplement: Dark Angels (although it’s likely Games Workshop will make them available online or in the Warhammer App sometime in the near future).
The previous 2023 Dark Angels Combat Patrol included the following 13 models:
- 1x Primaris Chaplain
- 3x Inceptors
- 1x Redemptor Dreadnought
- 5x Primaris Intercessors
- 2x Dark Angels Primaris upgrade sprues
- 1x Dark Angels transfer sheet
Final Thoughts
It’s great to see Games Workshop continuing to support Combat Patrol as a game model, and the fact that they’re building out a full set (notably they have also released datasheets via White Dwarf, such as the Tyranid Insidious Infiltrators and Strike Force Solarien Space Marines).
It’s likely we can expect more full-set Combat Patrols in the near future for additional faction (with both Orks, the T’au and the Kroot likely candidates given their recent appearances in new products). In the meantime, we’re looking forward to getting our own Dark Angels Combat Patrol painted and on the table in the days ahead.
