The past few months have truly been a glorious time for Warhammer 40K Ork fans. In fact, we’ve seen several major new glorious green-skinned Games Workshop products, including the new 10th edition Ork Codex, a new Stompaboyz Battleforce and even a new Big Mek model.
Now, GW has also unveiled a new Ork Combat Patrol that offers yet another way for players to WAAAGH! to their heart’s content. Known as “Morgrim’s Butchas” the new box set is slated for release on April 27th, 2024 and is available now for pre-order from Games Workshop.
So just what kind of beasts will you be able to snagga? Below, we stomp into all the details.
What’s Included in the New Ork Combat Patrol?
The new 2024 Ork Combat Patrol is known as “Morgrim’s Butchas” and consists of the following 25 models:
- 1x Beastboss
- 4x Squighog Boyz (with 1x Bomb Squig)
- 20x Beast Snagga Boyz
Notably, all of these models have appeared in the past, although this is the first time they’ve been collectively featured in a single box set.
How much Is the New Ork Combat Patrol?
The new Ork Combat Patrol retails for $160 USD, if you order it directly from the Games Workshop website. This is comparable in price to what we saw with the 2023 “Gordrang’s Gitstompas” Ork Combat Patrol.
Below are the estimated prices if you were to buy these units individually:
- 1x Beastboss ($40 USD)
- 4x Squighog Boyz with 1x Bomb Squig ($65 USD)
- 20x Beast Snagga Boyz ($120 USD – with two boxes required)
This works out to around $225 USD, so you’d be saving $65 if you were to purchase the Combat Patrol as a set. As always, prices may vary if you buy the set from your local game store or from Amazon (where discounts and sales may allow you to pick him up for a bit cheaper, with most third-party retailers offering at least 10-15% discounts).
When is the new Ork Combat Patrol Coming Out?
The new Morgrim’s Butchas Ork Combat Patrol is scheduled for release on April 27th, 2024. It is, however, available for pre-order now from Games Workshop.
Local game stores and online retailers will likely have copies shortly after the initial release date, although it’s not yet clear if the new set it a Games Workshop exclusive or it it will be sold via Amazon and other online retailers (which was the case with previous Combat Patrols).
How is this different than the Previous Ork Combat Patrol?
Morgrim’s Butchas actually marks the second Ork Combat Patrol to be released by Games Workshop for Warhammer 40K 10th edition. The first was released in late 2023 and was known as “Gordrang’s Gitstompas” with the complete datasheets and rules released for free online.
Unfortunately, that isn’t the case for this new 2024 Ork Combat Patrol. In fact, the rules and datasheets for it are not yet available on the official Warhammer website and can only be found in the official 10th edition Ork Codex that’s released in April. That being said, they should be released on both the Warhammer App and the GW website sometime in the near future.
The previous 2023 Ork Combat Patrol included the following 25 models:
- 1x Warboss in Mega Armour
- 20x Ork Boyz
- 3x Deffkoptas
- 1x Deff Dread
Final Thoughts
It’s amazing to see Combat Patrol continue to be supported as a play mode for Warhammer 40K, with Games Workshop releasing another factions and even new options via White Dwarf, such as the Tyranid Insidious Infiltrators and Strike Force Solarien Space Marines.
In the meantime, if you’re looking to get your WAAAGH! on your can pre-order your copy of the new Ork Combat Patrol now from Games Workshop.
